Language Strategy. HR and Recruitment. Theatre. These are three elements that define my adolescent and adult life and are the secret sauce of Your Story.

When I was 8 I had my first part on stage. I had 1 line. Actually, 1 word... the word was "Beep". I was a gosling in Charlotte's Web. And it was awesome. For the next 10 years, I spent my summers (and every other season) on stage soaking up as much knowledge of theatre elements as possible. How to set an intention behind your words, how to give your character a backstory and bring them to life, how to contribute to the ensemble as a great team player. And how to get on stage and not forget everything you spent time rehearsing.

I studied Psychology and Jewish Studies at Vassar College and focused on social psych and influence. I was obsessed with understanding why people made the choices they made, and how companies or others could influence their decisions.

After graduation I worked at a company called maslansky + partners- a language strategy firm. I spent my time there working with clients to help them pick the right words to ensure their message reached their target audience... and more importantly, that the audience heard what was being said. Words matter. Understanding your audience and tailoring your message to them matters. The things I learned at maslansky I use every day. 

​

During my time at maslansky I fell in love with words, but I also fell in love with building up people. I ran the internship program there and did the hiring and realized that I needed to shift my career into HR. Shifting careers was not easy- it took me the better part of a year. But once I learned how to tell my story, the magic happened and I got hired at L'Oreal.

It's now been 14 years that I've been in HR and in that time I have worked in Recruitment, Talent Management and Development, and as an HR business partner. I am now the VP of HR and Infrastructure at Earthbound Brands, a design, licensing, and creative services agency. I have looked at thousands of resumes, filled hundreds of jobs, trained and coached employees from interns to CEO's. 

 

My story isn't linear. It isn't typical. But it's 100% authentically mine and I wouldn't be where I am today without every single chapter.
